And we absolutely loved seeing how many of these influential designers lend their brilliance to Visual Comfort, which is proudly represented in our to-the-trade showroom. One of our all-time favorite aspects of interior design is the opportunity to let our imaginations run wild in order to create something completely and totally unique for each of our clients… which is why we have long since treasured working with boutique textile and wallcovering lines like the ones we represent in our showroom. Not only do these artisans produce best-in-class patterns and colorways, but the option to do a custom colorway (or even a bespoke pattern, in many cases) is a cinch and highly rewarding, creatively speaking! The process is way easier than you may think, and custom colorways are a simple way to create next-level customization for your client projects. Here’s a brief overview on how it all works.
This July 4th, in particular, we’re thinking a whole heck of a lot about what matters most in life. To us, that means freedom and true equality for every person - regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation, good health, kindness, and the extraordinary gift that is creativity.

Jared Hughes, a wildly talented designer and lovely friend of ours, has us totally gobsmacked over his bedroom in this year’s Southeastern Designer Showhouse. From his beautiful use of Décors Barbares textiles to the ornate detailing of his custom wallpaper collaboration with Gracie Studio, we were thrilled to learn more about Jared’s inspiration and creative process for this project.
In our to-the-trade showroom, we represent some pretty stellar furniture lines that are at the forefront of quality, customization, and design. On the regular, we’re sourcing from Hickory Chair, Cisco Home (formerly Cisco Brothers), and vanCollier in our own design projects and nothing makes us happier than outfitting a high-quality upholstery piece in one of our favorite artisanal textile lines. Eric Egan x Fromental for the well-designed WIN!
Milan's design week may have been postponed this year, but Fromental proceeded with the release of three stunning wallpaper designs in collaboration with interior designer Eric Egan. In fact, the new wallcoverings are showcased in Egan’s late 19th-century apartment and the headquarters of his design practice, L’Artigianato, which overlooks the Castello Sforzesco in Milan.
We have long adored Penny Morrison’s gorgeous and extensive line of textiles, and are now equally smitten with her new line of wallcoverings. Today more than ever we as a human collective are conscious of how the choices we make and the items we purchase affect our well being and the planet. From the food we eat, to the clothes we put on our bodies, to the products that we are bringing into our homes. As interior designers, we know all too well the importance of sourcing quality pieces for our clients that will stand the test of time but it’s also incredibly important to us that those pieces are made with the environment and our clients’ health in mind too. In our design business, we take the responsibility of sourcing quality super seriously and also relish in being able to interpret those nuanced details and differences to our clients. Many of the lines we go-to over and over again for quality are proudly represented in our to-the-trade showroom and we’re excited to share some specifics with you on the topic.
We love nothing more than seeing how our showroom customers use the textile lines that we represent! Christina, the owner of Etsy shop KLineDeco, creates the most gorgeous pillow covers from a range of fine fabrics. In our own design projects, we will sometimes forgo custom pillows in favor of ready-made, whether due to the client's budget or deadlines. KLineDeco is a fabulous source for affordable, ready-made pillows - made with exceptional materials and attention to detail we admire.

We are incredibly excited to share Carolina Irving’s brand spanking new Performance collection, which has just officially launched TODAY! We are in the works of getting all pattens and colorways set up on our website, but these fabrics are just too good not to give y’all a little sneak peek!
There’s not a client out there who hasn’t requested super durable fabrics for their bustling kid and dog-filled homes - and the range of indoor/outdoor, performance fabrics on the market today is incredible to help designers fill that need where there was previously a huge void. We used to rely on the big fabric houses to provide a well-designed array of performance textiles but what’s NEW and exciting is that smaller, artisanal lines are in the game too! And thank goodness, because with them comes a gobsmacking array of original and super cool fabrics that wear just as well indoors as they do out.
New collections from our showroom lines are always sure to put us in a super fine mood! And we couldn’t be more excited to share the spring 2020 textiles from our dear friends Clay and Todd of Clay McLaurin Studio. There’s nothing quite like seeing lighting in situ. Not just in basic vendor shots, but when talented designers incorporate fixtures into their work the product shines in a whole new way (pun intended)! Not sure about you, but we’re continuously gathering inspirational images over on our lighting board on Pinterest to be able to share reference shots with our clients who oftentimes need a visual to understand the scale and sense of incredible presence a fixture will bring to their space.
Designers Today magazine, led by our fearless and fabulous friend Jane Dagmi, has traditionally offered the Designer Experience event as an intimate trade gathering centered around the interior design and home furnishings communities, filled with unique opportunities for learning and human connection. This year, for the first time ever, the entire event is happening virtually!
While things are changing on a daily basis for our vendors, as they are for us all, please know that we are here to make your specifying and ordering process as easy and seamless as possible. Here in the showroom, we are working a normal schedule and are able to safely ship memos out on a daily basis. Quotes and orders are processed within 1 business day, as per usual.

Raise your hand if you’ve been on one too many video calls as of late (entire country thrusts their hands sky-high!) We jest, but it’s actually pretty amazing to be able to use technology like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc. to stay connected during this COVID-19-induced quarantine. We can’t even fathom what this whole debacle would have been like before modern-day conveniences like these.
