I started out thinking this blog would be all about interior design and textiles... and it is. But it's also become so, so much more. It has evolved into being just as much about the people behind great design as it is about the design itself. It's so much more interesting to know about the personalities who create the beautiful things we love putting in our homes and understanding what makes them tick, what and who inspire them, and how they view the world, don't you agree?
I also fundamentally believe that sharing the love is a wonderful thing - it raises up the entire design community when we can recognize the good things others are doing as opposed to just posting pretty pictures (not that we don't all adore a pretty picture, but I'm just sayin') I've gone to lengths try to ensure that CLOTH & KIND focuses just as much on the people as it does on the pretty stuff and am really proud of some of the new columns I've introduced this year like Limelight (#sharethelimelight), Proust on Design and Show & Tell that do just that. The other thing I'm excited about are the relationships this blog has allowed me to create with fellow designers, bloggers and readers.
Readers are a huge reason that I write daily on CLOTH & KIND. Yes, I admit that it's partially selfish - I appreciate having a place to put down my musings on interiors, but over time this blog has become more and more about sharing and communicating with others on this topic. For this reason, I would like to recognize a fellow decorator who also happens to be one of my most enthusiastic readers, Holly Gruszka of West Pear Interiors.
Holly, I so appreciate your interaction and always look forward to your comments and hearing what you think....really, more than you know. It's readers like you who make me want to continue writing a better blog. Thank you!
