Editor At Large // New Trads to Unveil Designs at AKDO

As a member of the Traditional Home's New Trad class of 2016, we were invited to collaborate with Kate Sterling of luxury tile brand AKDO to design a custom mosaic panel!

We introduced organic shapes into our mosaic, inspired by a lazy vacation day on Sullivan's Island, SC, spent watching patterns form in the sand from lapping waves.

Stay tuned for images of our final mosaic design!

Apartment Therapy // Inspiring Spaces for an Atlanta Showhouse

This year we were handpicked by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles as one of twelve design firms to participate in the 2016 Serenbe Designer Showhouse

The transformation took place in the penthouse apartment of Serenbe's Textile Lofts, (located just outside Atlanta), where each firm was tasked with designing a unique space that fit the building's rich history and southern aesthetic. Our chosen space was a long and narrow hallway, which we turned into an inviting walk-through lined with modern representations of southern landscapes.

We collaborated with PaperMill to design this one-of-a-kind wallpaper.

Michigan Design Center // July Lobby Vignette

We love how our vignette titled "A Modern Traditional Sitting Room" turned out for Michigan Design Center's Lobby this July!

Our goal was to create a chic, yet highly livable place. Take a look at the article here for photos of space, as well as some of our own exclusive design tips.

LA Times // Homey Kitchen Comfort

LA Times agrees, the kitchen is the heart of the home where everyone seems to gather. So why not make it a comfortable space to relax and spend time with family and friends? We gave LA Times a couple of tips on how to create a homey kitchen.

New Trads // We Made the 2016 class of New Trad Designers!

We are thrilled to announce that we've been selected as one of the ten NEW TRAD designers for 2016! Incredibly honored and grateful to be recognized, we would like to thank everyone who voted and showed support. Most importantly, we want to express gratitude and share our excitement with each of our clients who have collaborated with us and allowed us to creatively tell each story through layers of architectural history, textures and art. We would also like to thank the Editors and Judges involved in the selection process; we are blown away by the talent of this year's designers, and so fortunate to be among such great company!

Showcasing our client's Georgia farmhouse, our feature in Trad Home named Layers of Character highlights our collaboration as a team, our love for local artisans, and our signature juxtaposition of organic and elegant elements.

Be sure to check out our feature and explore the other designers selected for this year's top ten!

Southern Style Now // May 2016

The inaugural Southern Style Now festival took place May 18-22, 2016 in New Orleans. It was a remarkable celebration of design, marked by keynotes from industry icons like  Bunny Williams, India Hicks, Julia Reed, Lisa Fine and Suzanne Rheinstein, panel discussions, cocktail and dinner parties, exhibitions, a spectacular Traditional Home showhouse and a series of windows on Magazine Street imagined by hand-selected designers, each based on one of the seven deadly sins.

CLOTH & KIND was invited by Southern Style Now founder and creator, Robert Leleux - former editor of Domino magazine and former managing editor of Lonny, to design a window at the Kevin Gillentine Gallery and also to speak on a panel about textiles with our esteemed peers Peter Fasano, Elizabeth Hamilton, Stacy Waggoner and Kate Reynolds. Take a peek at our window installation below...

CLOTH & KIND // Southern Style Now, May 2016

Special thanks to our partners in making the window possible, including Clay McLaurin for the use of two of his new Spring '16 textiles - Reeds & Vine, The World Art Group and artist Ethan Harper for working with us to create the crazy custom artwork we dreamed up, local drapery & soft goods workroom Brandon Wilkins for the impeccable custom fabric covered shadow boxes, Pierre-Paul for mounting the artwork in such a way that allowed for them to float effortlessly within the shadow boxes and last but not least, to Kevin & Vincent at the Kevin Gillentine Gallery for being such gracious hosts.

New Trads // We're Semi-Finalists!

For the past 7 years, Traditional Home magazine has recognized up-and-coming design talent with its annual hot list of NEW TRAD designers. We were honored enough as it was to have been nominated by an editor friend of ours, but to have made the cut out of the hundreds and hundreds of crazy talented designers from across the country to land a spot in the Top 50 Semi-Finalists list has us gobsmacked!

The public voting portion of this whole process goes on through April 15, 2016 and we'd appreciate your vote (daily, if you're so inclined!) The reality is that the votes, while important to have a strong show of support, aren't ultimately the final deciding factor - they will allow for one design firm with the highest number of votes to be included in the final 10 chosen. Ultimately, however, the Editors and Judges will make the decision as to which other 9 design firms are worthy of the honor - and if we were to be so fortunate, that's how we'd prefer to win anyhow (as opposed to popular vote). So, by all means, please vote away to show your support but more than anything we'd just appreciate you well wishes.

In truth, we owe thanks to each one of our wonderful clients. Your projects have allowed us to spread our creative wings and to grow a portfolio of work that just may be worthy of an honor like this one. So thank you. Sincerely. Thanks to each of you that we've worked with over the last 3 years and who we hope to work with for many more!

Apartment Therapy // Valances are the Turtlenecks of Home Decor (But Here's Why You Should Consider Using Them Anyway)

CLOTH & KIND Interiors // Apartment Therapy

There is nothing quite like a valance or a cornice board in a ridiculously cool and modern textile to take a space from average to totally custom & amazing. We're thrilled that our friends at Apartment Therapy included us in this article - thanks for the love, AT! Be sure to check out the article for other ways to use valances in your own home.
